Gahanna-Jefferson

School Board

I am proud to announce that Dion Manley — Ohio’s first openly transgender elected official and a dedicated member of the Gahanna-Jefferson School Board — has endorsed my campaign for the Ohio House.

Dion is a longtime Gahanna resident and proud single dad whose daughter graduated from Gahanna-Jefferson Schools. A small business owner with deep community roots, he also brings years of public service experience, including work with the Franklin County Board of Elections and nonprofit leadership.

He made history in 2021 when he was elected to the Gahanna-Jefferson Board of Education, becoming the first openly transgender person to win public office in Ohio. Since taking office in 2022, he has championed strong public schools that support all students and families.

What brings us together is our unshakable belief that Ohio’s public schools must be fully funded. We both know that well-resourced neighborhood schools are the foundation of thriving communities — preparing kids for good jobs, lifting up working families, and creating opportunity for every student, regardless of background.

Dion’s endorsement means a great deal to me. It reflects our shared vision: investing in public education, supporting teachers and staff, and building an Ohio where every child can reach their full potential.

I’m grateful for Dion’s leadership and his willingness to stand with this campaign. Together, we will keep fighting for fully funded public schools that serve every Ohio family.

Thank you, Dion. Let’s keep moving Ohio forward — for our students, our schools, and our future.
