Arienne Childrey: A Strong Night in the Ohio Primary – Moving Forward Together

Tonight, Ohio voters spoke, and I am deeply grateful.

In the 2026 Ohio Primary Election, thousands of citizens across Auglaize, Darke, and Mercer counties took time out of their busy lives to participate in our democracy. Whether you voted for me, supported other candidates, or simply showed up to make your voice heard, thank you. Active civic engagement is the foundation of a healthy republic, and every ballot cast strengthens our community.

My campaign for the Ohio House of Representatives in the 84th District was unopposed in the Democratic Primary. Even so, we refused to take anything for granted. We continued showing up for our communities, listening to neighbors, and building momentum for the work ahead.

The results show that our efforts resonated. Compared to the 2024 Primary, our overall vote total increased by 35.88%. That growth wasn’t uniform — it reflected real enthusiasm in communities that are ready for new leadership and fresh ideas:

• Auglaize County: +63%

• Darke County: +43%

• Mercer County: +21%

These numbers represent more than statistics. They represent neighbors who believe we can do better on issues like affordable healthcare, strong public schools, supporting our farmers and small businesses, and ensuring every family in rural and small-town Ohio has a real shot at prosperity.

By contrast, the incumbent and my general election opponent saw her overall vote total drop by 26% from 2024:

• Auglaize County: +15%

• Darke County: -34%

• Mercer County: -44%

Voters are clearly signaling that they want a different direction — one focused on solutions rather than the status quo.

Celebrating Our Democratic Team

I also want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to every Democratic candidate who ran tonight, especially those who competed in hard-fought contested primaries. Winning a primary takes vision, resilience, and the courage to put yourself before the voters. To those who ran strong campaigns but did not prevail: thank you for stepping up. Competitive primaries make our party stronger, sharpen our ideas, and ensure that the best candidates advance to November.

We now stand united as one team heading into the General Election. Our slate is full of dedicated public servants who care deeply about the 84th District.

Looking Ahead with Optimism

The road to November is clear, and I am genuinely optimistic. The energy we saw tonight — even in an unopposed race — tells me that residents of the 84th District are hungry for representation that listens first, works across the aisle when possible, and fights relentlessly for practical results on the issues that matter most:

• Keeping healthcare affordable and accessible

• Supporting our agricultural heritage while preparing for the future

• Investing in education that prepares our children for opportunity

• Addressing the real challenges facing working families without empty partisan rhetoric

This district deserves a voice that puts people over politics. I intend to be that voice.
