About Arienne

Arienne Childrey is a committed community leader and advocate running to represent

Ohio's 84th House District in the Statehouse. Born and raised in a small coal-mining town

in southwestern Virginia, she moved to Ohio in 2014 and quickly put down roots, drawn

to the sense of opportunity and community here.

 

Her years in retail management built strong leadership skills and a real-world understanding

of what keeps families going—fair costs, safe neighborhoods, and accountable government. That hands-on experience led her to public service, including an appointment to the St. Marys City Council in January 2025, where she served as the lone Democrat through the end of the year. On council, she pushed hard to keep the city affordable—calling for an independent rate study when a proposed refuse collection hike seemed way out of line—while prioritizing public safety and transparency. She worked across party lines with Republican colleagues to address residents' concerns, putting people over politics every time. She's also a member of the St. Marys Tree Commission, contributing to efforts that make the community greener and more livable.

 

Arienne's deep passion for fairness and inclusion inspired her to found RAN! – Rainbow Advocacy Network (formerly Northwest Ohio Trans Advocacy), a grassroots group dedicated to advancing LGBTQ+ rights, especially for transgender Ohioans. In spring 2025, she was elected Vice Chair of the Ohio Democratic Party Pride Caucus, where she works statewide to build support for inclusive policies and lift up more voices from the community. Her efforts earned her the 2025 Emerging Leader award from Equality Ohio.

 

With a proven record of standing up for everyday folks, bridging divides, and fighting for equity, Arienne is ready to bring that same energy and practical approach to Columbus—working with anyone willing to focus on real solutions for jobs, affordable living, public safety, and a stronger future for all of us in the 84th District.
