A vote is a vote… but earning it changes everything.

Earlier this week at the candidate forum in the 84th District, a woman in the audience shared during Q&A that she used to be a Republican but had become disillusioned with the current party. She wasn’t much of a fan of the Democratic Party either. Yet she said she would be voting for me, simply because I wasn’t a Republican.
I was grateful for her support. Every vote matters in this race.
But after the forum, I made a point to find her and speak with her. I thanked her for choosing to vote for me, but I also told her honestly that I didn’t want her vote just because I’m not a Republican. I wanted her to vote for something — for the vision and heart I had shared that night for our district.
She told me that when she came into the forum, that’s exactly how she felt. But after hearing my vision for the 84th District, she was now happy to be casting her vote for me.
Friends, that moment is why I’m running for Ohio State House.
A vote against my opponent can change the outcome of an election.
But turning that into a vote for a shared vision? That changes hearts and minds. That builds trust. That creates real, lasting momentum for the kind of Ohio we all want to see.
We don’t have to settle for votes that are only “against” the other side. We can earn every vote by showing up, listening, and sharing a positive path forward — together.
If this resonates with you, please share it. And if you’re ready to help turn “against” into “for” across the 84th District, join our campaign at https://www.arichildrey.com/contact
Together, we’re building a Better Path Forward.
