Human Rights/Civil Rights/Equality

Ohio is strongest when every person is treated with dignity, fairness, and equal opportunity—regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion, disability, or background. As your representative, I will fight to protect and expand these fundamental rights for all Ohioans and their families.
-
Champion the Ohio Fairness Act and work tirelessly for its passage to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, and public accommodations—ensuring no Ohioan faces bias in daily life.
-
Defend reproductive freedom and full access to abortion care, consistent with Ohio's constitutional protections (Issue 1, approved by voters in 2023), while opposing any attempts to impose new restrictions or undermine this hard-won right.
-
Oppose all anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, including transgender bathroom bans in schools and public spaces, restrictions on gender-affirming care, drag performance bans, forced outing of youth, and similar efforts that harm transgender and LGBTQ+ Ohioans.
-
Advocate for comprehensive nondiscrimination protections across Ohio, including support for efforts like the proposed Ohio Equal Rights Amendment to enshrine broad safeguards in our constitution against discrimination based on race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, and other protected characteristics—in housing, employment, education, public services, and beyond.
-
Support meaningful criminal justice reform to address disparities affecting minority communities, including equitable policing practices, reducing unnecessary incarceration, reforming bail systems to prioritize fairness over wealth, promoting alternatives to incarceration for non-violent offenses, and investing in reentry programs that help people rebuild their lives and reduce recidivism.
These commitments aren't just positions—they're promises to stand with Ohioans facing discrimination, ensure our justice system is fair and effective, and build a more just, equitable state where everyone can thrive.
